Present:  Mike McKenzie, Janet Lee, Sherri McPherson, Jeannie Graham, Bill Bradford, Debbie Huffman, Sally Adams, Bobbie Simpson, Susie Jolliffe, Van Kirk, Larry Sykes

Introductions

• No Introductions

Agenda

• Janet Lee made a motion and Jeannie Graham seconded that:  We approve the agenda as written.  The motion passed.

Minutes

• Jeannie Graham made a motion and Bobbie Simpson seconded that:  We approve the minutes from the December 14, 2006 SBDM Council meeting as amended.  The motion passed.

Community Input

• No Community Input

Budget Report

·        Monthly budget reports were given to the Council for review.

Senate Bill 168

·        Every other year schools are required to examine the achievement gaps within their schools and identify areas that they will target for extra focus.  The department chairs met with Mr. McKenzie and decided to target the achievement gap between the Hispanic and Caucasian students.  This idea was submitted to the SBDM Council for approval.

·        Sherri McPherson made a motion and Sally Adams seconded that:  We approve the proposal to target our focus on the achievement gap between Hispanic and Caucasion students in the areas of math and reading.  The motion passed.

PD Report

• No Report

Technology Committee Report

• The Technology Committee requests that the allocation of $10,689.97 be used as follows:

5 laptops for $5,500

5 desktops for $2,245

1 printer for counseling office for $2,500

• Janet Lee made a motion and Van Kirk seconded that:  We approve the proposal from the Technology Committee for expenditure of funds totaling $10,689.97.  The motion passed.

RFP Update

• The math and science departments will continue professional development working in consultation with Leslie Robertson.

Staffing Process Review

• Mr. McKenzie reviewed with the Council the staffing process that will take place in March.

Executive Session

• Pursuant to KRS.61810.1F Sally Adams made a motion and Sherri McPherson seconded that:  We move into executive session to consult on staffing the position of boy’s tennis coach.  The motion passed.
