Council meeting is set for January 24, 2008
Present: Mike McKenzie, Sally Adams, Tim Mitsumori,
Kathy Doyle, Bill Bradford, Susannah Kilbourne, Marsha Bordas, Mike Henderson,
Ann Cowan, Janet Lee, Randy Gonzalez; Scott Davis, Larry Sykes
Absent: Michael Brown, Jeannie Graham
Introductions
Agenda
- Larry Sykes made a motion and Mike Henderson seconded
that: We approve the agenda as written. The motion passed.
Minutes
- Mike Henderson made a motion and Sally Adams seconded
that: We approve the minutes from the December 13, 2007 SBDM Council
meeting as amended. The motion passed.
Community Input
- Janet Lee commended the staff and parents for their
patience dealing with the new Infinite Campus program. She also explained
her concerns for seniors and their need for accurate records for college
applications and scholarships.
Budget Reports
- December SCIF and Activity Budget reports were
reviewed.
Projected Staffing Report
- Around the first of March we will receive the staffing
allocation for 2008-09. Lafayette’s projected student enrollment is 2,043.
This will increase our staffing allocation by 1 to 1 ½ teachers.
Projected Budget
- The 2008-09 SCIF budget is based on the prior year’s
ADA. The projected allocation is $4,000 less than last year. The budget
committee will meet again on January 16th to work on budget
requests.
Student Code Request
- Mr. McKenzie explained that the principals have
requested a change to the student code of conduct to allow parents the
flexibility to write 3 notes each semester excusing their students for being
tardy due to situations like car trouble, delays due to weather, etc.
- After Council discussion, it was decided that the code
change was not necessary and that principals would continue to excuse
students on an individual basis.
Fee Waiver Request
- Kathy Doyle made a motion and Marsha Bordas seconded
that: We approve the requests for waived fee funds from Family Consumer
Science in the amount of $1,335 and for Art in the amount of $1,800.
The motion passed.
Instructional Plan Update
- The professional learning committees continue to meet
on a regular basis.
- Mr. McKenzie is investigating ways that would allow
teachers to work with students in preparation for the March 11 ACT test.
- Teachers are working with student on open response
questions in preparation for the CATS test.
Adjournment
- Marsha Bordas made a motion and Mike Henderson
seconded that: We adjourn the January 10, 2008 Council meeting. The
motion passed.
