Council meeting is set for March 1, 2007
Present: Mike McKenzie, Janet Lee, Sherri
McPherson, Jeannie Graham, Verna Clemons, Sally Adams, Susie Jolliffe, Bill
Bradford, Debbie Huffman, Bobbie Simpson, Larry Sykes
Absent: Van Kirk, Rob Strobel
Introductions
- Betty Simson and Sharon Donahue, Lafayette parents,
were introduced. Jim Darga, a visiting principal from Pickney High School
in Michigan was introduced.
Agenda
- Janet Lee made a motion and Bill Bradford seconded
that: We approve the agenda as amended. The motion passed.
Minutes
- Susie Jolliffe made a motion and Verna Clemons
seconded that: We approve the minutes from the February 8, 2007 SBDM
Council meeting as amended. The motion passed.
Community Input
On Demand Results
- Sharon Donahue, a Lafayette parent, expressed her
concerns about the scoring of the On Demand Writing test and the way the
results were announced to the students. She also presented her comments in
written form.
- The SBDM Council will discuss the situation at the
next meeting.
Budget Committee Report
- The 2007-08 budget requests were distributed for
review.
- Janet Lee made a motion and Sally Adams seconded that:
We accept, for first reading, the 2007-08 budget requests as presented.
The motion passed.
Curriculum Committee Report
- The Curriculum Committee recommended not acting on the
proposed 2.0 graduation requirement at this time. The committee would like
to see this requirement implemented but not until the district as a whole
adopt the requirement.
- The Curriculum Committee reported that departments are
working on fine tuning common exams for all Lafayette students but they are
not ready yet nor have they accumulated any data as to the overall success
or failure of giving common exams.
Attendance Policy
- Susie Jolliffe presented to the Council, for
consideration, an attendance procedure from another high school. Mr.
McKenzie said that the office will review the handout.
March Meeting Schedule
- The SBDM Council will have a special meeting March 1,
2007 to discuss staffing, budget, and On Demand Writing.
RFP Request for 2007-2008
- Mr. McKenzie will try to bring back to the Council in
two week the RFP proposal.
Larry Sykes made a motion and Sally Adams seconded that:
the February 22, 2007 SBDM Council meeting adjourn. Then motion passed.
