The next SBDM
Council meeting is set for February 28, 2008
Present: Mike McKenzie, Sally Adams, Tim Mitsumori,
Kathy Doyle, Susannah Kilbourne, Bill Bradford, Mike Henderson, Janet Lee, Randy
Gonzalez; Larry Sykes, Jeannie Graham
Absent: Michael Brown, Marsha Bordas, Ann Cowan,
Scott Davis
Introductions
·
Erin Hutchinson, student teacher with Allison Denton, introduced
herself.
Agenda
- Larry Sykes made a motion and Jeannie Graham seconded
that: We approve the agenda as amended. The motion passed.
Minutes
- Jeannie Graham made a motion and Larry Sykes seconded
that: We approve the minutes from the January 24, 2008 SBDM Council
meeting as written. The motion passed.
Community Input
- Mr. McKenzie informed the Council that as of today,
the last day of school will be May 28th.
- Jeannie Graham inquired about student’s and parent’s
access into Infinite Campus.
AP Data Proposal
- Mr. McKenzie informed the Council that so far over 300
students have signed up to take 521 AP tests..
- Success rate on AP tests is about 69%.
- Mike Henderson made a motion and Janet Lee seconded
that: We approve the proposal to eliminate the 45 English Language class
for next year and encourage those students to take AP English Language.
The motion passed.
On Demand Scores
- The Council was informed that the On Demand Scores are
moving in the direction we want them to go.
Fee Waiver Request
- Bill Bradford made a motion and Susannah Kilbourne
seconded that: We approve the Special TRIP fee waiver request from
Allison Denton and Paula Lewis in the amount of $360 for PE bowling trips.
The motion passed.
Technology Request
- Technology proposal is to add an additional computer
lab with funding coming from the following sources:
$13,350 technology component from
the Smaller Learning Community Grant
$12,030 Career/Technical
Education (IAKSS)
$ 6,000 from school sources
- Larry Sykes made a motion and Mike Henderson seconded
that: We accept the technology proposal as presented. The motion
passed
Drug Testing Athletes
- The Council will discuss at the March 13th
SBDM meeting whether they would like to look into the possibility of random
drug testing of student athletes. If they decide to proceed, they will
begin to research the pros and cons of the action..
- Federal grant money is available for testing.
Budget and Staffing
- The superintendent informed schools that they should
receive their allocations by March 1st.
Consultation
Pursuant to KRS.61810.1F Mike Henderson made a motion and
Larry Sykes seconded that: We move into executive session to consult on the
positions of football coach, girl’s soccer coach, boy’s soccer coach and girl’s
tennis coach. The motion passed.
