AFC: KEES SCHOLARSHIP: To be eligible for the KEES award, high school students must meet certain requirements. You do not have to apply for a KEES award. It is sent automatically to the college you're attending after the school lets KHEAA know that you are attending classes. You can get more detailed info by circling this scholarship.
AFC: JANICE M. SCOTT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Students must be a US Citizen or permanent resident of US; must have an un-weighted GPA of 2.5 or higher; must be a high school senior who will matriculate full-time at a US accredited 4-year college or university within the 50 states or District of Columbia starting at the beginning of the fall semester or quarter of 2010; and must have demonstrated leadership abilities through participating in community services or other extra curricular activities. Applications are available in the Counseling Office and mail the complete application packet so that it is received or postmarked on or before the deadline date of March 31, 2010.
AFC: FARM BUREAU SCHOLARSHIPS: You could be the recipient of a $20,000 scholarship! Fayette County Farm Bureau is offering a $20,000 scholarship, $5,000 per year toward a 4 year undergraduate degree. You must be a resident and attend school in Fayette County, High School Senior, unweighted GPA of 3.0 or higher, Combined verbal and math SAT scores 1000 or higher, or a composite ACT score of 21 or higher. You must be a member of Fayette County Farm Bureau, however if you are not already a member you may join at anytime before the application deadline for $35.00. Applications are available in the Counseling Office. The application postmark deadline is April 1st, 2010. 2 year Vocation/ Technical scholarship offered by Fayette County Farm Bureau. $2,500 scholarship, $1250 per year offered to a student pursuing a 2 year Vo-Tech degree. Open to anyone 18 years and older. Must be a resident of Fayette County. You must be a member of Fayette County Farm Bureau, however if you are not already a member you may join at anytime before the application deadline for $35.00. NAFC: MURRAY STATE UNIVERSITY: MINORITY EDUCATOR RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION SCHOLARSHIP: Provides a maximum scholarship of $5,000 annually for minority students who are enrolled at Murray State University and who want to become teachers. Eligibility criteria: *US Citizen and Kentucky Resident; *Maintain at least a 2.5 GPA; *Declare teacher education as major field of study; *Enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student pursuing initial teacher certification; *maintain continuous full-time enrollment or be a part-time student within 18 semester hours of receiving a teacher education degree. NAFC: FERGUS HANSON SCHOLARSHIP: The Lexington Clinic Foundation is a leader in providing assistance to students pursuing health careers through the Fergus Hanson Memorial Scholarship program. NAFC: EDWARD E. AND BEVERLEY H. MCDONALD SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Provides assistance to graduating seniors from any High School located in Jessamine County, KY and Bryan Station or Lafayette High Schools in Lexington, KY. Scholarship assistance will be granted to a qualified student to attend a recognized college, university, or junior college. The scholarship recipient will be selected on a competitive basis considering academic achievement, extracurricular or community activity, and career goals. Financial need will be a major consideration in the selection of the recipient. Scholarship funds are disbursed in annual payment of up to $1,000 payable directly to the school of choice and credited to the student's account. Scholarship recipients may apply for a renewal of funds provided he/she continues to be a student in good academic standing. Betty Jean Green Doerr Memorial Scholarship- $3,000/renewable. The criteria for awarding the scholarship shall be academic achievement, test scores, and financial need as determined by the University's Office of Financial Aid. Deadline: March 15
Dr. Jack Latham Scholarship- $400/renewable. Recipient shall be education major having a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. Morgan and Rowan County Kentucky students shall be given preference. A demonstrated financial need is to be considered. Deadline: March 15
Dr. Lawrence and Stellarose Stewart Scholarship- $500 renewable. Scholarships for students from Carter or Boyd Counties in Kentucky. Any high school student whose GPA is at least 2.0 is eligible. Recipients shall be education majors unconditionally admitted to MSU and must maintain a 2.5 GPA in order to renew. Deadline: March 15
William Hampton Scholarship- $500 renewable. Awarded for an education major. Typically, the recipient shall be a language arts or reading scholar. Deadline: March 15
William M. Hazel H. Whitaker Scholarship- $1,500 renewable. Awarded to students from eastern Kentucky counties. Recipients shall be education majors, unconditionally admitted for study at MSU with sufficient financial need. Recipients should be ranked in the upper 25 percent of his/her high school graduating class and must maintain a 2.5 GPA. Deadline: March 15
Future Educators of America Scholarship- $500/non-renewable. Awarded to incoming, full-time freshman majoring in education who participated in high school FEA Chapter. Preference is given to those students with unmet financial need and who live within the MSU service region. Deadline: March 15
Teacher of Tomorrow Scholarship- $1,000/renewable. Recipients must have a minimum high school GPA of 3.0 and ACT score of 24. Preference is given to those students with unmet financial need and who live within the MSU service region. Full-time students must maintain a 3.0 GPA at MSU in order for scholarship to be renewed. Deadline: March 15
Minority Educator Recruitment and Retention Scholarship- $5,000-maximum/renewable. Awarded to minority student, from Kentucky, with minimum high school GPA of 2.5 pursuing a degree in education. Student must teach, in Kentucky, one year for every year scholarship funds are awarded. Deadline: July 30- Fall semester; Dec. 1-Spring semester
Minority Teacher Education Program/MSU Scholarship- $1,000/renewable. Awarded to minority student with minimum high school GPA of 2.5 and ACT of 18 majoring in education. Student must enroll full-time and reside on campus. Must maintain 2.4 cumulative GPA first two semesters; 2.6 GPA third and fourth semesters; 2.75 GPA for the remaining semesters in order to renew scholarship. Deadline: July 30- Fall semester; Dec. 1-Spring semester
NAFC: COMMONWEALTH CREDIT UNION SCHOLARSHIPS: General Scholarships include: Nathan Leach "Reach for the Stars" Scholarship and Two Commonwealth Credit Union Scholarships. Scholarships specifically for members that have overcome a physical or learning disability: Adam Bender "Reach for Excellence" Scholarship. Scholarship applications can be found on website at www.ccuky.org Interested applicants must be high school seniors, members of Commonwealth Credit Union* and accepted as an incoming freshman at an accredited college, trade school or university, The maximum scholarship per student is $4,000 over a four-year period for undergraduate study. NAFC NATIONAL COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS- Up to 20 Chairman's Scholarships of $2,500 and up to 20 President's Scholarships of $1,500 will be awarded to students attending any of National's 26 campuses in Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, and Indiana. Awards will be given to seniors whose academic and extracurricular activities demonstrate promise, a desire to succeed, and a commitment to making a positive contribution to others. Eligible candidates must also show potential for successfully completing a college degree or diploma program with National College. AFC KENTUCKY ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICERS- The Kentucky Association of School Resource Officers (KY SRO) is offering two $500 scholarships for post-secondary education to two seniors. Students are nominated by their School Resource Officer (SRO) based on the student's contribution to safety or crime prevention in his/her school on the attached application. The scholarships will be announced prior to the June 2010 KY SRO Conference in Erlanger, Kentucky where the scholarships will be presented. Deadline: April 15, 2010.
NAFC 2010 STUDENT-VIEW SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM- The 2010 Student-View Scholarship Program is offering $8,000 worth of scholarships to high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year college, community/junior college or career school. The program includes: One $4,000 scholarship, Two $1,000 scholarships, Four $500 scholarships. It is quick and easy to apply. NAFC 2010 SHANNON O'DANIEL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARD- The Epilepsy Foundation of Kentuckiana will be accepting applications for the 2010 Shannon O'Daniel Memorial Scholarship Award. The one year $1,000 award is given to a deserving student who meets the following criteria: is a college bound high school senior, under a physician's care for epilepsy (or seizure disorder), lives in Kentucky (excluding Boone, Campbell, Grant and Kenton counties). The recipient should be a student who has shown courage in dealing with epilepsy and seizures, has a commitment to their education and demonstrates perseverance in eliminating the obstacles the epilepsy and seizures may present. AFC: THE KINCAID FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP- These scholarships will be awarded to Fayette County High School students attending college and enrolling in a four-year degree program. The application is based on financial need. Students are encouraged to submit a letter with his or her application if there are pertinent facts not covered on the form. NAFC: HORSE WORKER'S EDUCATION ASSISTANCE FUND (HFWEAF)- Need-based financial assistance toward tuition only to graduating High School Seniors whose parent(s) work on Central Kentucky Thoroughbred Horse Farms and have done so for at least three years. Scholarships are for education at any colleges, universities, or technical programs, and are based upon need, merit, essays, and personal interview. NAFC: KENTUCKY EAGLE, INC. & LEX18 UNDERAGE DRINKING PREVENTION CAMPAIGN- In an effort to prevent underage drinking, Kentucky Eagle, Inc., Lex18, and a local sponsor are implementing a scholarship program for Fayette County high school seniors who plan to attend a college, university, or trade school upon graduation. A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to the student who submits a 15 second video that best persuades his or her peers not to partake in underage drinking. The runner-up will receive an iPod Nano. A premiere of the winning entry will air on Lex 18 News at 12:30p.m. during the week of May 17th, 2010; this News segment will also feature the winner and runner-up and will be showcased on the Lex18 website. AFC: AGRIBUSINESS ASSOCIATION OF KENTUCKY SCHOLARSHIP-This scholarship program was established in 1996 to recognize and assist Kentucky students majoring in agriculture. The scholarship is in the amount of $1,000 per school year paid in two equal installments of $500 per semester. The scholarship is based on merit as well as financial need. Students must submit a completed copy of application form, three required essays, two letters of recommendation, and most recent official transcript. The applicant also must meet the following qualifications: Be accepted for enrollment as an undergraduate in a post-secondary institution (public or private college or university, or vocational technical school) for the fall semester of the upcoming school year, be a Kentucky resident, have a declared major in an agricultural related field of study or be accepted into an agricultural study program, past recipients of the ABAK scholarship are NOT eligible. AFC: THOMAS B. BRIGHT, JR., MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP OFFERED BY KENTUCKY PROPANE GAS ASSOCIATION- To assist undergraduate students with costs of higher education. For students who are employed by or are relatives of employees of companies that belong to the Kentucky Propane Gas Association. Three $1,000 scholarships will be awarded in 2010. Former recipients of the Bright Scholarships are eligible to apply. Application is available on the KPGA website www.kypropane.org which needs to be submitted along with the required information. AFC: ALPHA GAMMA RHO UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP- The Omicron Chapter of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity is awarding one $1,000 scholarship to any deserving man/woman who is planning to enroll at the University of Kentucky as an incoming freshman or transfer student in the Fall of 2010. This scholarship is available to any major in the College of Agriculture and any other life sciences (Biology, etc.) related majors. Complete application along with additional required information. NAFC: ARTHUR M. & BERDENA KING EAGLE SCOUT SCHOLARSHIP- Three cash scholarship awards are given: National First Place $8,000; Runner-Up $4,000; 2nd Runner-Up $2,000. Open to all Eagle Scouts who are currently registered in an active unit and have not reached their 19th birthday during the year of application. Entrants need to complete only one application for the chapter competition as that essay will be used if selected for the state and national level as well. Application consists of: Two page application form, the Four Generation Ancestors chart, and the 500 word essay. AFC: APEX SOCIAL CLUB TEXT BOOK SCHOLARSHIP AWARD- The recipient will get $150 dollars annually for a period not to exceed four consecutive years. This would amount to $600 dollars. The student must maintain a 2.00 GPA in college while taking a minimum of 12 hours a semester. Proof of enrollment in college must be provided by the recipient each year. Application is available in the Lafayette Counseling department. Requirements include: Plan to enroll in college (Two or Four Year), GPA 3.00 minimum, ACT score of 19 or SAT score of 880 minimum, satisfactory conduct, and must be a graduate of Lafayette High School in 2010. NAFC: SCHOLARSHIP SHOWCASE Presented by the Daymar Foundation: This is a scholarship showcase competition, open to juniors and seniors, for the opportunity to win $25,000 tuition scholarship to the college or university of the winner's choice. This event is our version of American Idol, where students can showcase their talent for the opportunity to earn a scholarship to further their education. Second place will receive a $500 scholarship and third place a $250 scholarship. NAFC: JANE ALLEN NEWMAN SCHOLARSHIP AT BLUE GRASS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION: The scholarship was established by Mrs. Newman to assist Kentuckians going to college. The scholarship is open to Kentucky residents with financial need who maintain a C average or better and who are or plan to be full time students. Awards range from $1,000 to $2,000 per academic year and are renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study, provided students maintain a 2.0 GPA and remain full-time students in good standing. To apply, send a brief letter about your educational goals, a copy of your Student Aid Report (SAR), and a copy of your driver's license or ID showing you are a Kentucky resident. NAFC: COLLEGE PREP SCHOLARSHIP FOR HIGH SCHOOL JUNIORS PROVIDED BY QUESTBRIDGE: QuestBridge's College Prep Scholarship provides awards that equip high-achieving, low-income students to compete for admission to leading colleges. If you are a high school junior who has a strong academic record and an annual household income of less than $60,000, we encourage you to apply. Many past award recipients have also been part of the first generation in their family to attend college. Scholarships are open to all qualified students. AFC: 16th DISTRICT PTA- The dollar amount of the scholarship is based on donations from local PTAs and individuals in this district. The minimum amount awarded will be $500. Students will be selected on the following criteria: Financial need, Grade point average (must be 2.5 or above), and activities in school, church, community, or work. AFC: WOODROW WILSON LEADERSHIP AWARD OFFERED BY PHI KAPPA PSI: The Kentucky Beta Chapter of Phi Kappa Psi is offering three $200 book scholarships. Requirements include: Have a minimum GPA of 3.2, leadership in and out of the classroom (grades, clubs, sports, etc.), must be a male, have philanthropy experience, and be attending the University of Kentucky Fall 2010. DEADLINE: May 31, 2010.
AFC: THE MIDWAY CHORAL SCHOLARS PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIP: Midway College will award scholarships to twenty auditioned female singers per year who wish to continue serious vocal performance as they pursue their college degree. The scholarship award total will be up to $10,000 per year (including any additional academic scholarships awarded). In order to be eligible students must have the following: A GPA of at least 2.5 cumulative (unweighted), An ACT composite score of at least 18, An on-campus audition (distance students can send a media audition), and an application for the Choral Scholars Program submitted. AFC: BEST IN THE BLUEGRASS: Aimed at high-performing students in Fayette County Schools, who are going to college outside of Kentucky. Before you leave, we want you to know that the Central Kentucky region has a wide variety of companies with high-level, high-tech and interesting career opportunities. NAFC: BLUEGRASS INDO-AMERICAN CIVIC SOCIETY: Awards a $1,000 one-time scholarship to high school graduating seniors who plan to join college for postsecondary education. BIACS has been awarding these scholarships since 1986. This year, BIACS will be awarding 11 scholarships during its annual banquet to be held at the Convention Center (Hyatt) in Lexington. NAFC: DONALD T. MACCLELLAN SCHOLARSHIP from the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Bluegrass Chapter: Awards $500 to a selected candidate entering an undergraduate program in engineering, science, or engineering technology in which the student is pursuing a course of study which traditionally has been a preparatory curriculum for a career in HVAC&R. NAFC: MARY JO YOUNG SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION: Sponsored by the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority, provides assistance with tuition and textbooks for high school students who are enrolled in dual credit classes at a Kentucky college or university and/or Advanced Placement courses through Kentucky Virtual Schools. Students taking AP courses will need to complete an application AND register for the course through the Kentucky Virtual Schools. AFC: DR. GEORGE C. WRIGHT/ LAFAYETTE HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF '68: The LHS Class of 1968 presents a $2,500 scholarship. This scholarship is open to all LHS seniors and is a one-time award which will be made to an individual whose activities and academic achievements during high school have made a significant difference in their own life, school, and community. It will be given to a student who is going to attend a four year public or private college or university and the award will be made to the institution the student is attending. Obtain an application packet from your counselor and complete. DEADLINE: APRIL 15, 2010.
AFC: JANICE M. SCOTT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Six $2,500 scholarships for high school seniors who will graduate in 2010. They will be issued on a one-time basis. Any high school senior, who is interested in applying for these scholarships must complete the enclosed application and submit it along with the other requested documents as specified on the application criteria sheet. As an eligibility guideline, the chairman wishes to emphasize that the selection process of these scholarships is based primarily on a "need" basis. The process involves four means of evaluation. NAFC: RIPPLE EFFECT SCHOLARSHIP (KENTUCKY AMERICAN WATER): This scholarship is in the form of a one-time payment of $500 and may be used at any in-state or out-of-state university, college, or trade school.
