LAFAYETTE GALLERY HOP EXHIBIT POSTPONED: The Lafayette Art Gallery Hop Exhibit for tonight has been cancelled and will be rescheduled for early December.

LAFAYETTE BAND ON BALL REPORT: Check out our own Lafayette Band Drum majors and Band Director, Chuck Smith featured on the Ball Report this Sunday, November 19th at noon on the CW!


YOUTH SALUTE APPLICATIONS: The Central Kentucky Council on Youth Leadership is sponsoring the 38th Annual “Youth Salute.” The purpose of this program is to honor high school juniors who maintain a high scholastic average and have a demonstrated leadership ability. The applications are in the counseling office and the deadline is December 8, 2017.

TRACK MIDDLE TO LONG DISTANCE PARENT MEETING: Any boy or girl interested in running middle to long distance for the Lafayette track team please stop by the front office to pick up an informational flyer regarding the parent meeting next Monday, November 20th from 6-7 PM in the Library.


SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION FOR JUNIORS: The Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation offers a full-ride scholarship specifically for juniors. It is based on academic merit. The application is available online and is due by January 24, 2018. Please stop by the counseling office for more information.


GENERAL OUTFITTERS FRIENDSGIVING POP GRAMS: General Outfitters, the school store, will celebrate Friendsgiving next Tuesday, November 21st! Let all of your friends know you are thankful for them. General Outfitters will be selling Caramel Apple pop grams today thru next Monday during all lunches, for only 50 cents each. Stop by the store and send all your friends a note of thankfulness!

ALIVE @ 25: The next Alive at 25 classes have been scheduled for December 6, January 11, and February 26 here at Lafayette! You can register online at or scan the QR code on the fliers on the bulletin boards around school, or stop by the front office for step-by-step registration instructions. This is the FREE required defensive driving program for your graduated license.

ESSAY CONTEST: The League of Women Voters of Lexington is hosting an essay contest for students in grades 9-12. The topic is “the freedom of speech and of the press.” For more complete information and the recommended title page, please come to the counseling office. Deadline for the essay is December 8th.

GSE: Governor’s School for Entrepreneurs (GSE) is open for any 9th – 11th grade student interested in a realistic and authentic entrepreneurial experience. Applications will be open from November 1st to December 20th. Check in the Counseling Office for more details.

COLLEGE VISITS: All Juniors and Seniors can sign up with Ms. Baker in the Counseling Office to visit with college representatives. College visits will be held in the Library unless otherwise specified.

UK COLLEGE OF PHARMACY: On December 2nd from 9:30 am – 2 pm the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy will be hosting a free Pharmacy Preview Day for all high school and undergraduate students who are interested in pursuing careers in pharmacy. The event will be held at the UK College of Pharmacy and is open for students, educators, and their families. There will be light refreshments, breakout session for students and their guests to learn about pharmacy school, and tours of our facilities. You can register for this event at


GSA: Governor’s School for the Arts is looking for students with skills in their art form, passion for creativity, an open mind, collaborative spirit, and an eagerness for learning to apply for the Summer Program. Does that sound like you? Apply now! For three weeks every summer, over 200 of Kentucky’s most talented and creative high school students are invited to grow and learn together at the Governor’s School for the Arts’ college summer residence program.  Rising juniors and seniors in high school are offered in-depth instruction in one of nine artistic disciplines: architecture + design, creative writing, dance, drama, instrumental music, musical theatre, film + photography, visual art, and vocal music.  The application link is live at
